Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

by Jon Peder
(Norway)

This is one of my favourite Low Fat sandwiches! If you liked this, please visit www.great-sandwich.com for more sandwich recipes.

3 lbs. ground beef
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup chopped celery
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 can (26 1/2 oz.) sloppy joe sauce
24 hamburger buns

1. Cook beef and onion in Dutch oven over med. Heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain.

2. Mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except buns in 3 1/2-6 qt. slow cooker.

3. Cover and cook on Low 7-9 hrs. (or HIGH 3 to 4 hrs.) or until vegetables are tender.

4. Uncover and cook on HIGH until desired consistency. Stir well before serving. Fill buns with beef mixture.

Makes 24 sandwiches

Per sandwich; cal 155, fat 9g, sat fat 3g, chol 30mg, sod 270mg, carb 8g, fib 1g, prot 11g

I've served this recipe at a family reunion once. It was a great success, and after the reunion I was called down by hungry family-members wanting this recipe.

Enjoy!

(Of course you don't need to make as much as 24 sandwiches. Just adjust the recipe. )
