Lose 40 lbs/ get back into a fitness routine

by Trish
(Canada)

I'm giving myself the full year to lose 40lbs, waiting on knee surgery right now, but then hoping to get back into a fitness routine and feel comfortable with my body again. With more energy to play with the grandkids.

Energy to play with the grandkids
by: Marion

Hi Trish,

40lbs is quite a chunk to lose, but what better motivation than the thought of playing with your grand kids without tiring ...

Anyhow, you might want to split your goal into smaller, easier looking sub-goals. I.e. losing 10lbs in 3 months, and then another 10lbs.

This will give you a sense of achievement.

I hope your knee surgery goes well and afterward you can start with some light exercises, because only losing weight will not help much to get more energy. Preferably not the kind, that strains your knee (ask your doctor, what she recommends!).

As another reader suggested, you could start with the Wii Fit Plus or Wii Active program, which you do at home and can be varied in intensity according to your needs.
