Lose 20lbs to stay healthy and live longer

I am currently looking to lose about 20 pounds. I don't really have a deadline, but I realize that I'm getting up in age and want to improve my health in order to live longer.

My family needs me to lose this weight. My plan is to use a treadmill in the beginning. I'll also resume lifting weights and stretching on a regular basis.
