Review of Diet Programs
This review of diet programs tells you all about some of the hottest diets and what they consist of.
The newest diet fad always creates a lot of hype. As soon as there is a new surefire weight loss plan, everyone from Doctors to fitness trainers will release a statement or publish a review of diet programs and compare the mall to the newest diet. Of course, every new diet has the magic answer to weight loss....the latest weight loss miracle.
"Now, finally after hundreds of years, a diet that really works and melts off the pounds while you eat whatever foods you like is finally here!"
How many times have we heard that? Do you believe it? I don't!
This website stresses healthy ways of losing and keeping your weight.
Myself, I have never been on a diet, for the simple reason that after 1 or 2 days, it gets boring and I start craving for whatever kind of junk food or sweets. So very early on I decided not to do diets.
What helped a lot in my decision has been the example of my mother, who has been on diets for almost all of her life. She would loose some pounds, gain them again, go on another diet, etc.
This is called the yoyo-effect. Yoyo dieting does not work and it is not healthy.
Does this sound familiar?
Review of Diet Programs
Here are some of the "hottest" diets and what they really are:
Blood Type Diet
The blood type diet determines which foods you should be eating according to your blood type. You are supposed to eat foods that go with your blood type.
South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet claims to be the delicious, Doctor-designed, fool proof plan for fast and healthy weight loss helping you lose 8 to 13 pounds within the first two weeks. The focus is on replacing bad carbs with good carbs and bad fats with good fats.
Blood Type Diet
The Negative Calorie Diet claims there are foods that will actually burn more calories in the process of digesting than the calorie content of the food.
Green Tea Diet
The Green tea claims to boosts metabolism and accelerate weight loss by drinking it. Drinking lots of tea will make you feel full, thus helping to reduce the amount of calories you eat.
Zone Diet
The Zone Diet claims that by eating an ideal balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats at every meal and snack, hormonal balance is achieved, thus controlling insulin levels and resulting in weight loss. It also promotes eating lots of vegetables and fruits, which is not too bad.
Raw Food Diet
The Raw Food Diet claims that the healthiest food for the body is uncooked and is based on the belief that cooking foods diminishes its nutritional value. Off course, raw meat or fish is a no-go. This diet is only for hardcore vegetarians or vegans. Definitely not for the average person.
Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet claims that by consuming a low-carbohydrate diet, not only will you lose weight but you won't feel hungry.
Sonoma Diet
The Sonoma Diet claims that their three wave program which redefines portion sizes instead of the kinds of food you eat and consisting of mostly vegetables, grains and lean meats will help you lose weight and keep it off.
Hollywood Miracle Diet
The Hollywood Miracle Diet claims that consuming a natural blend of juices and botanical extracts, mixed with water on either their 24 hour diet or 48 hour diet will enable a 5 pound loss per day. This weight loss will be mostly water and come back on afterwards quicker than you can imagine.
Nutrisystem Diet
The Nutrisystem Diet consists of portion-controlled meals which are low in sodium, saturated and trans fats, and include whole grains, high-fiber, low-fat foods with optimal amounts of lean protein to curb cravings and satisfy hunger.
Acai Berry Diet
The Acai Berry has plenty of nutrients, like essential fatty acids, amino acids and phytosterols. This combination is said to heat up your metabolism, improve your digestion, and - most important - reduce appetite. Acai berry is one of the more nutritious and powerful foods on the planet, packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. But still, it should be eaten only as a supplement, not as your main source of food.
Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet claims this very restrictive diet of eating unlimited bowls of cabbage soup, along with a few other low-calorie foods, for a solid week will enable quick weight loss. The cabbage soup weight loss plan must not be followed longer than one week! I think, this is a good way to jump start your weight loss, if you follow a healty nutrition afterwards.
Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet claims basing your meals upon the cuisines of the Mediterranean region will make you lose the pounds. The Mediterranean Diet encourages you to eat meals which rely heavily on plant proteins with very few dietary restrictions since you are allowed to eat all the things they enjoy, in moderation.
Instead change your meal plans and eating habits, heating up your metabolism (by doing at least moderate amounts of exercise) and detoxifying your body.
Now that we have reviewed some of the diet programs out there, why not start adjusting your meal plans and eating habits. A beginning to getting away from the fad diets and getting yourself used to living and eating healthy instead of relying on yoyo dieting and deprivation as a way of life.
