Beer Burgers?

Yup! Beer Burgers they are! Juicy and delicious and... best of all: very little fat! Although if you're following a low carb regime, you won't mind having any fat at all. Mind you! I reckon it's better to avoid as much (bad) fat as possible for our hearts' sake anyway.

If you're not on a low carb regime, you can use this recipe to make the tastiest burger you've ever tried... without the fat that is!

You could grab a couple of slices of nice Italian or wholemeal bread, (1 pt each slice), add a couple of beer burgers into your sandwich, and top it up with red onion, fresh lettuce, a slice of tomato, and just a tad of low fat mayonnaise and another of ketchup. Voila! That's a healthy burger!

You could even have 2 of them, but watch your points budget!

Alternatively, you could complement this delicious low fat burger with a nice low fat salad recipe.

Could you have a beer too? Sure, why not? But that'll be an extra 1.5 points, thank you very much!

Of course, you can always trade the bread, for another beer... or vice versa.

Nutritional Information

Serves 12 burgers

Fat: 2.2 g

Cal: 75

KJ: 316

WW: 1.5 Points

Ingredients:

1/2 cup beer

1/2 kg of the leanest beef mince you can find

1 parsnip

1 carrot

1 onion

2 Tbsp steak sauce

1 Tbsp grain mustard

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 tsp dried thyme

salt and pepper

This is what you do:

Boil the beer in a pot for 2 minutes and set it aside.

Next, put the rest of the ingredients in a large bowls and mix well, then add the beer, and continue mixing.

After that, roll the meat "dough" and make up 12 balls, and shaping them into burgers.

Set them aside till you're ready to cook them. 30 minutes would be great!

Grill them or cook'em on a barbie (BBQ) for about 6 minutes on each side.

That's it! You now have 12 beer burgers and a lot of ideas on how to eat them.

Enjoy!
